Artist Studio Sanctuary

I moved into my new place last year- just after the fires in Brentwood and Malibu, but ONE MONTH before Los Angeles went into a total lockdown. Talk about bad timing. With only a brief reprieve during the late summer months, it’s a year later and we’re still in the same strict lockdown. Maybe worse.
I was REALLY looking forward to nesting and leisurely shopping for new and vintage furniture, seaside knick-knacks, and the perfect shabby chic pieces (the last Shabby Chic store in California is a few minutes from me!), but that scenario is out the window, so I’ve been left with the SLOW process of trying to buy everything online.
NOT as fun.
The weather, of course, is perfect here. Sunny and mid-70s most days (see the movie “L.A. Story with Steve Martin for more on L.A. weather) so I’ve started with my outdoor space. The balcony.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the huge rattan chair I found! It’s SO comfy is big enough to curl up and take a nap or sit for a little meditation 🧘🏼♀️. The fairy lights on and around it make it the perfect magical space for relaxing back and sketching out ideas 🖌or putting details on a set of tarot cards for an order. The best part is I’m never out there alone…there are a couple hummingbirds that visit my balcony all day long so I got each one of them their own little vintage glass feeder. On a warm evening it’s the perfect artist sanctuary.
