It’s a new year with new possibilities!  2020 In numerology it is the Number FOUR, which resonates with patience, organization, endurance, determination, and balance. I’m keeping that in mind after the many challenges I faced in 2019.   After the devastating fires in Southern California, I moved my home and studio and LOST all my beloved materials (inks, paints, papers, etc.) that I use for work and all my creations! It was the only thing that did not make it! - and the inks I use cannot be replaced. So, I’m trying to look at this as a sign to start fresh and new. I had to close my ETSY shop for the Christmas season, which was devastating financially, but now I am re-working my tarot cards with new inks, designing new books, bringing back some of my magickal  bottles, and adding a new line of  gemstone creations. Gemstones you say? YES! Right on my work table I have an Aventurine stone (Encourages creativity, enhances prosperity, increases luck) and I am...

Tea-dyed Antiqued Book Pages ☆☆NEW☆☆

Image
After over a decade of perfecting my "antiquing" technique for the pages in my books and journals, I've added a new, all-natural process, of tea-dying. This new process, which I call Chai-Dye, since it uses many of the same ingredients I use in my morning cup of Chai Tea (sans the frothy almond milk!) gives my journal and book pages a BEAUTIFUL vintage tint-- much different to my original paper antiquing technique, which features "burnt edges" and has a more "ancient" feel rather than "vintage". ❤︎ I love them both ❤︎  Burnt edges are featured with the original antiqued page process. Both processes use a wet-on-wet method and are time-consuming, but the results are amazing. After a few applications of the special, all-natural dye, the pages are ideally dried in the hot sun although sometimes during the winter on cold and rainy days, I am forced to hang pages near a heater. Here are two creamy Chai-Dyed papers n...

Beachcombing Around the World ❤︎ The Story behind Wandering Mermaid Sea Glass and Seashells

Image
Believe it or not, all the seashells and sea glass I use in my bottles and other items in my ETSY shoppe were collected by ME from all over the world! I never buy any shells or sea glass and I believe that keeps the magick in my bottles and makes every piece I create all the more special!  Beautiful sea finds from my collection I try to organize by sea treasures, but it is difficult! My box of seashells I use for works of art I always pack up my beach-combing treasures inside a zip-lock bag and label it so I know where it is from. Lots of shells, glass an treasures from the sea ❤︎ ✩✩ Here is a world tour of my beach combing! ENGLAND My favorite place in England to collect both sea glass and seashells is in Falmouth, where I spend time every summer.  Last summer I spent a lot of time at Porthtowan, which I loved and found some great shells!  Porthtowan, England Porthtowan Beach Unfortunately, while strolling the beac...

The Hunter’s Moon

Image
Tonight is October’s full moon, The Hunter’s Moon, named for the time in autumn when the fields have been reaped, or harvested, and Native Americans thought it a good time for night hunting by the bright full moon before winter settles in. Keeping with the autumn season, October full moon is also known as the Dying Grass Moon. Tonights full moon will be a Super Moon, which is when the moon is closest to the earth. The Super Full Moon is an amazing time to do a spell and use the power of the Moon to help guide you in whatever you are striving for. This will be the last Super Moon of 2015.  To celebrate tonight’s full moon, I decided to re-design the cover of my Antiqued Moon Journal. I found some Dresden Foil Paper Charms at one of my favorite stores in Berkeley, California called Castle in the Air. I decided to use the crescent moon paper charms on the new-re-designed cover. What do you think?
