  "April Pink Moon", original watercolor painting  by Wandering Mermaid April means SPRINGTIME! - and the Full Moon in April is called the FULL PINK MOON because flowers are blooming, letting us know Spring is finally here! 🌸 When I think of pink flowers I think of roses or peonies, but the Full Pink Moon is actually named after Creeping Phlox (sounds like a Dr. Seuss character!), which is a wildflower found in North America and blooms like crazy all over the ground in early spring.  Creeping Phlox, aka Moss Phlox is a vivid pink color To me, The Creeping Phlox looks more fuchsia than pale pink, but I love the name Pink Moon  so I keep those thoughts to myself! ☾ ⭐︎ This year, 2021, the Full Pink Moon will be on April 26th AND….IT WILL BE A SUPERMOON!  The first of two supermoons this year!   March's Full Moon is called the Worm Moon 🌜✨ The first full moon in March is called the Worm Moon and is considered the last full moon of winter! If you live in an area where it snows, you’ll know why it’s called the Worm Moon. If you live in a warm climate, like me, you might be pretty perplexed by the name “worm moon” so here is some info that might help. Since March is often the end of winter, the snow has melted and the first signs of Spring appear, and that mean flowers starting to bloom, birds coming out, AND— you guessed it— earthworms coming out of dormancy and onto the ground. Earthworms are SO important since they mix organic matter into the soil, improving its structure and ability to filter water.   🌸 Time for Spring planting! 🌸 ✨🌝✨ In 2021 the Full Worm Moon will be on March 28th!  ✨🌝✨ ☾ ⭐︎ I’ve been doing LOTS of watercolor painting this year and have started a series of small moon-themed paintings that will be for sale on my website. That is Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo-The Lion.

The raucous nighttime howling of wolves heard during the cold winter months is why January’s Full Moon in known as the Wolf Moon in Native American and Scandinavian folklore.   I started making these tarot cards around 8 years ago, and I still have the first few decks I made and they are in perfect condition, even though I use them all the time! Here are a few ways you can keep your deck looking perfect too!  ☾⭐︎ WARPS OR BENDING FROM HUMIDITY  Even though my cards are VERY thick, if you live in a humid area or your cards are left outside overnight, they may warp a little. Luckily that is easily solved!  Stack your deck at least 6-8 cards high and place them on a flat surface.  ☾⭐︎ Place several heavy books on top of them and leave for several hours or, even better, overnight.  ☾⭐︎ The next day they will be flat again! ☾⭐︎ SHUFFLING YOUR HANDMADE DECK: Since the cards I make are unfinished (not slippery) and very thick, it is best NOT to use a Riffle Shuffle with them because they do not bend easily and they could be damaged. It is best to use an Overhand shuffle or Hindu shuffle with these cards. I’ve ALWAYS used an Overhand Shuffle with all my tarot ca
