After five days, the rain is finally gone and it’s a beautiful sunny day today. The everyone-must-wear-masks-in-public order went into effect yesterday in Los Angeles so there are MANY people going by my window and balcony with all kinds of homemade masks on. Even some runners have them on, for which I am truly grateful. I have begun sewing and selling fabric masks because I believe so strongly that EVERYONE should wear a mask- especially since 80% of people who have the coronavirus do not even know they have it or have very mild symptoms and can easily spread the germs to many. Stores are closed, of course, and all I had around the house was some celestial-themed fabric I bought for making tarot bags, so my masks are celestial themed, with some shabby chic fabric here and there. I’m sewing some healing crystals on them since we can all use a little extra help right now! The Story Behind My Antiqued Spell Book

I love making ALL myAntiqued Journals. The Spell Book was the first antiqued book that I created many years ago. My inspiration came from seeing the movie “Practical Magic” where they had a wonderful ancient-looking Spell Book that the witches consulted when they were looking up a spell.  Two witches (Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing) from the movie "Practical Magic" using their lovely, mysterious Spell Book ☾☆ That lovely old book had crinckley old pages with torn edges, and I really wanted to re-create that look. TAKING CARE OF YOUR HANDMADE TAROT CARDS ☾⭐︎

  I started making these tarot cards around 8 years ago, and I still have the first few decks I made and they are in perfect condition, even though I use them all the time! Here are a few ways you can keep your deck looking perfect too!  ☾⭐︎ WARPS OR BENDING FROM HUMIDITY  Even though my cards are VERY thick, if you live in a humid area or your cards are left outside overnight, they may warp a little. Luckily that is easily solved!  Stack your deck at least 6-8 cards high and place them on a flat surface.  ☾⭐︎ Place several heavy books on top of them and leave for several hours or, even better, overnight.  ☾⭐︎ The next day they will be flat again! ☾⭐︎ SHUFFLING YOUR HANDMADE DECK: Since the cards I make are unfinished (not slippery) and very thick, it is best NOT to use a Riffle Shuffle with them because they do not bend easily and they could be damaged.
