Under The Mermaid Moon

The raucous nighttime howling of wolves heard during the cold winter months is why January’s Full Moon in known as the Wolf Moon in Native American and Scandinavian folklore. Whether because the wolves were hungry, calling to other members of the pack, or coordinating a hunt, it was January when wolves were most often heard howling at the full moon ✨🌝✨ My favorite mug is the perfect image for the Wolf Moon

I started making these tarot cards around 8 years ago, and I still have the first few decks I made and they are in perfect condition, even though I use them all the time! Here are a few ways you can keep your deck looking perfect too!  ☾⭐︎ WARPS OR BENDING FROM HUMIDITY  Even though my cards are VERY thick, if you live in a humid area or your cards are left outside overnight, they may warp a little. Luckily that is easily solved!  Stack your deck at least 6-8 cards high and place them on a flat surface.  ☾⭐︎ Place several heavy books on top of them and leave for several hours or, even better, overnight.  ☾⭐︎ The next day they will be flat again! ☾⭐︎ SHUFFLING YOUR HANDMADE DECK: Since the cards I make are unfinished (not slippery) and very thick, it is best NOT to use a Riffle Shuffle with them because they do not bend easily and they could be damaged. It is best to use an Overhand shuffle or Hindu shuffle with these cards. I’ve ALWAYS used an Overhand...

🌜✨ Happy Birthday Aquarius 🌜✨ January 21st marked the beginning of the Sun Sign Aquarius  It’s my very favorite sign because I’m an AQUARIUS! ☾ ⭐︎ Meet an Aquarius….  Aquarians are quirky, eccentric and always march to the beat of their own drums. Clever and mischievous, Aquarius will always surprise you with the unexpected which is evident by the Aquarius symbol of Water  bearer, since Aquarius is an AIR sign not a water sign as many people assume! Aquarians are unconventional in their thoughts, actions, and way of life, and are known for their intellectual genius and visionary ideas. They LOVE a dramatic entrance (and drama in general!) and are unpredictable, a lot like their ruling planet Uranus, which is the “planet of surprise” and the only planet that spins on its side. Aquarians are often interested in the creative arts, science and astrology. When you get to know us we may seem calm and relaxed but inside our mind is exploding with creative and wil...

Had a wild drive from Malibu to San Luis Obispo (3 hours north) and back yesterday. I checked the weather forecast that morning before I left which predicted sunny (Central California) to light showers (Los Angeles to Santa Barbara).   ☀️🌦 Fiery sunset along central california coast The reality was I encountered thunderstorms, heavy rain, rainbows, 40mph winds, hail and on the way home SNOW IN MALIBU!!  ⛈🌈🌨💨 What a wild weather day! AND- I no longer trust the Weather Channel AT ALL! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Malibu, California        ☆ 2021 ☆   A NEW YEAR already filled with the stresses of 2020, but while we are all STILL stuck at home 24/7, it’s finally time FOR ME to turn my new art studio in my new SANCTUARY ☾ ⭐︎ I moved into my new place last year- just after the fires in Brentwood and Malibu, but ONE MONTH before Los Angeles went into a total lockdown. Talk about bad timing. With only a brief reprieve during the late summer months, it’s a year later and we’re still in the same strict lockdown. Maybe worse. I was REALLY looking forward to nesting and leisurely shopping for new and vintage furniture, seaside knick-knacks, and the perfect shabby chic pieces (the last Shabby Chic store in California is a few minutes from me!), b...

In these scary and uncertain times I’m finding that my friends, my family AND myself, are more and more often unhappy, confused and frustrated in our daily lives. I am also getting a lot more requests for a tarot card reading! I think we are all hoping the cards will tell us something positive and good that we can hope for in our future.  I spoke to my friend Noel today, and she is so frustrated with life and so anxious for things to go back to normal— whatever “normal” will be again— that she was talking about problems I’ve never heard her deal with before. And we’ve been friends for decades! We were on the phone for over and hour, and as we spoke, I pulled a card for her and it showed exactly how she was feeling. 🌜✨ Reverse Lovers:  Longing for love, beauty, and harmony. Frustrated by lack of romantic love and kindness and the comfort that brings. Unable to trust. ❤︎ Does it describe how you are feeling?

Woke up about 3am last night because a bright light was shining in my face between the blinds  in my bedroom. I looked outside and saw it was the FULL MOON! A super moon! It was so beautiful  and mesmerizing I stared at it for over an hour- I took the photo below with my phone so the quality is not great, but it captures the mystery of a full moon. Sadly, this is the last supermoon of the year.   Venus, the brightest of the planets, will appear as the Evening Star this week. Look out for it! ⭐︎ ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎ May 2020 ⭐︎ Watercolor on watercolor paper The full moon in May is called the Flower Moon, to celebrate the spring flowers that will  bloom during the season.  🌜✨
